Nach einem Auftritt in einer brasilianischen TV-Show bekam Joao Suplicy seinen ersten Plattenvertrag. Er studiert Musik an einer berühmten Musikschule in Los Angeles. Mit dem Komponist Joao Pellegrino hat er inzwischen mehr als 70 Lieder aufgenommen. Einer seiner bekanntesten Songs "Vozes" ist durch einen Videoclip berühmt geworden und ein Muss auf großen Samba/Rock Bällen.

Tom Jobim ist heute eine Legende in Brasilien und der ganzen Welt. Schließlich wurde der Bossa Nova hauptsächlich durch seine Songs bekannt. Showgrößen wie Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillepsie und Miles Davis haben seine Lieder interpretiert und gespielt. Selbst Sting, Sinead O' Connor und Diana Krall gehören zu seiner Fangemeinde. Sicherlich ein krönender und passender Abschluss für das „Deutsch-Brasilianische-Festival“ – nicht nur für Liebhaber.

Joao Suplicy got his first contract with a record company after he was spotted on a Brazilian TV-Show. He studied Music at the well-known Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. One of his most famous songs is called “Vozes” and is a most of every big Samba / Rock festival in Brazil.

Tom Jobim is today a legend in his native soil and an icon in the whole world. It is due to his songs that, since 1962, Bossa Nova music was exported and became well known outside Brazil. Celebrities like Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillepsie and Miles Davis are some examples of non- Brazilian interpreters and musicians which have appreciated and revealed his repertory.
